Symbols, Scripture, and Celebration

“Agnus Dei (The Lamb of God)

- Francisco de Zurbarán - 1635

Every year at this time, my family has a tradition of eating a Christian version of the Passover Seder Dinner. This will be our fourth year of setting the table with the seder plates, the bitters and herbs, the lamb shank bones and the children's favorite…the sparkling grape juice. And God uses it to set the table of our hearts for the Easter week. Through the symbols, scripture, and celebration, it draws our family to worship the God who has orchestrated the great work of delivering our souls out of the hand of the Devil, just as he delivered the Israelites out of the hand of Pharaoh. It helps sanctify the day in our minds and our children's, but more importantly it helps us to sanctify the Lord in our hearts (1 Peter 3:15) by doing something altogether different from other dinners.

Click this link to access an outline of the Christian Passover Seder we have adapted for our young family. It has blessed us and we share it with the hope that it could offer a blessing to you and yours.  Whether you try it or not, may you and your family set aside the time to worship Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world. Praise God!
